"No driver found" error for every new USB peripheral

I have a Lenovo T61 running win7 ultimate x32.

Every time I plug a new USB device in I get 'no driver found' and it won't install, even if pointed to manufacturer drivers.

I've updated windows and all the lenovo software/drivers... It's driving me mad!
