"No drives were found." Win7 Installation - HELP

So i installed windows 8 on my HP DV6t-7000 and it regularly gave me BSOD until eventually it stopped booting all together.

I have tried doing a fresh install of both win8 and win7 but both provide me with the error that "no drives were found. click load driver to provide a mass storage for installation"

I have run the computer through partition wizard and formatted the hard drive to NTSC but the installation disks still wont recognize the drive, nor will Ubuntu for that matter.

Someone please help me this is driving me nuts!

This napped with a Netbook that I worked on a few months ago. In the BIOS there should be a setting that you can change it to SATA or IDE or something like that under boot devices. Also dose it show up in the BIOS?

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals, Boot into BIOS setup to see if there is an EFI Boot Disk in BIOS Boot order. If so remove it, set DVD drive first to boot. If EFI BIOS also set to Legacy BIOS.

Then boot into installer DVD or flash stick, at first screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SEL DIS 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
ACTIVE
EXIT

Next click Install Now to Clean Install Windows 7 to partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

Where did you get Win7 installer? DId you burn it yourself? Try another using ImgBurn at 4x speed, after confirming the ISO from Step 1 of tutorial above.

there is no EFI boot disk in the BIOS, the BIOS menu seems very limited in comparison to what im used to.

i tried that command in CMD and i receive the message, no fixed drives available or something to the effect, i do however see the drive is assigned the letter x:

Ive used this win7 installer on many computers so it isnt that, especially as all win8, win7 and ubuntu give me the same error.

yes it says Notebook Hard Drive

when i run wizard partition it shows my hard drive.

i'm trying to disable sata using hirens boot disk, any idea how i do this?

Why do you want to disable SATA. Set SATA controller in BIOS setup to AHCI to try install first, then if that fails try IDE mode.

I'd first reset BIOS to defaults since you may have already gotten a bad setting: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Since you have PW CD, try creating an NTFS Primary partition of the entire SSD, then rightclick to Modify>Set to Active, OK, Apply. Now try install to see if that catches its attention.

i've already done these thing numerous time to no affect. i get no option to change the SATA controller in BIOS because HP removed it for some stupid reason which is why im looking for a boot CD to do it for me

it wasnt active, i formatted it which had all my stuff on, then i clicked make active. it was using partition wizard

You need to wipe the HD again which you can do by clicking on it to highlight it, then from Disk tab Wipe HD quick method.

Then create and format a partition, Modify>Set to Active, OK, Apply. Try install.

and no sadly, i have some of it on my external HDD but ive lost a couple games, movies and college work!

i apologise for the late reply! but you were correct in the fact that i needed to wipe the HDD as opposed to just formatting it! all is working now and has been a while, thank you very much sir
