no ethernet controller, no internet connection

HI, to start off, I have had windows 7 7100 on my computer for a while (internet was working), but then decided to have windows 7 7600 x64 now. But when i installed that and tried to activate it, I just get stuck at the "verifying pool data" screen. So I went and installed windows 7 7600 x32 but now the problem is I have no internet connection. It tells me I have no connection, so I go into device manager and in others the ethernet controller wasnt installed for some reason. My wireless works but my ethernet port doesnt work. I have tried to find everything I can but nothing works. Can someone help me please. I am running windows 7 x32 now, and I have a custom built pc. Motherboard: Biostar TA690G AM2 CPU: ADM Athlon 64 x2 dual core and the ethernet controller is onboard: realtek 8111B(PCI-E).

Have you already installed the latest 7.003 Windows 7 driver version below for your Realtek network adapter?

Thanks for the link, I have just tried to install it but a window pops up saying "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. IF Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable" I dont know what that means or how to get out of Deep Sleep Mode. any suggestions? Thanks for the reply

I'm not sure what that is suppose to be either.

You might see if uninstalling the device in Device Manager to see if it may detect it, or if you can install the driver, properly afterwards.

If you still cannot install the driver, then see if you can use the method below and select the driver from the downloaded folder at C:\Users\(user-name)\Desktop\Install_Win7_7003_0720\Install_Win7_7003_0720\WIN7\64\netrtx64.inf.

Just to confuse things, this is for the AM2 version of the board. The AM2+ version has a Realtek network adapter.

Have a look on the motherboard, in between the NorthBridge heatsink and the PCI Express slot. The model designation is written there. What does it say? It should say one of the following:

A690G-M2 Board version AM2
A690G M2+ Board version AM2+

For the AM2 version, see above for the drivers. The following is for if you have the AM2+ version.

Hi, Thanks dwarf for the info but I dont think it helped because when I looked at my motherboard it said TA690G AM2. Is there a difference with TA690 and just A690? becuase when I looked at the user manual for my motherboard it tells me the LAN is Realtek 8111B. And I have tried to uninstall the ethernet controller and installed the Realtek driver, the ethernet controller just says no driver was found for this device. I downloaded the Marvell driver also but dont know how to install it because there is no setup or .exe i can open up. How do I install that to try?

I see no reference on the BioStar website for a TA690G. All references are for A690G.

For the Marvell drivers, they come in .zip format. You will need to extract these. Having extracted these, open the folder. You will see a list of files. Depending on which version you have, amongst the files will be one of the following.

32-bit yk62x86.inf
64-bit yk62x64.inf

You need to right click on this file and select Install.

and when I pressed install for the yk62x86.inf, it said Install error, The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation.? I just dont get it.

Yes I did, I tried to install it but it says ZIP damaged: file C:/Users/AppData/Local/Temp/WZSE0.TMP/data1.cab:Bad CRC8584abc8(should be cb725393). Possible cause: file transfer error.

I see now. My apologies. It would appear that different regional versions of certain manufacturer's websites (BioStar included) list different content. This sort of thing is most annoying, and it is something which I, for one, wish they would stop as it makes things difficult for people, both as users of their products and for those of us helping such users in forums like this.

As to your driver problem, I can only suggest that you try to download the driver again. The Realtek site is notoriously slow, and it is possible that you have simply got a corrupt download.

Did this comp have a previous OS? are you running 32bit now? did the nic ever work?

Yes, It was running on x64 windows 7 7100, then I updated to x64 windows 7 7600 but couldnt activate it. So i decided to reformat again and install x32 bit windows 7 7600. So now I am current running bit x32. And yes the internet did work before.

You might see if you can install the Vista version by using Compatibilty Mode with Vista selected. They worked just fine for in Windows 7 for me.

Also, double check your BIOS settings to make sure that you have the LAN enabled.
