No HDMI signal once Win7 loads

The last time I used my computer was last night and all was well, when I went to bed I put my computer to "sleep" like usual and went to bed. I get up this morning and "wake it up" and i'm getting a "no signal" screen on my TV. So I look at the display on my receiver and the HDMI logo isn't lit up like it should be. I restart the computer to see if that helps, as soon as the boot logo screen comes on the HDMI logo lights up and I can see the display normally all the way until the logon screen should come up, then the HDMI logo goes away and I get "no signal" again.

Now i'm in safe mode w/networking but can't get status of my video card due to being in safe mode. Does this sound like a classic case of a bad video card or am I jumping the gun? Any way, short of swapping out the video card, I can do some troubleshooting to confirm what the problem is?

Have I finally stumped you guys? Normally you guys resolve my issues pretty easily.

Still in safe mode here, haven't figured out what the problem is. It can't be my HDMI cord though cause i'm still using that same cord ATM. Kind of thinking it can't be my video card either cause i'm still connected to the display via the HDMI on it. This is strange! I've been connected to my HDTV for months now, nearly a year, and all of a sudden this happens?? Baffling!

I still have my 22" display hooked up via DVI, i'm gonna restart my machine and see if I get anything to display on it once Windows loads......didn't try that this morning. If so, looks like I'll be getting a 24"+ monitor sooner than I thought cause my 22" is on the verge of going out......it'll be fine for a while then the screen will get noticeably brighter for a few seconds before it blacks out. I can turn it off for a while then turn it back on and it'll be good to go for a little while but then it'll do the same thing.

Well, seems my video card is fine, HDMI cord is fine, driver is fine, it's looking like the problem is with my HT receiver. I'm posting this right now from my machine on my TV and i'm not in safe mode.

Setup went like this: HT = all audio/video run into my Sony STR-1000 via HDMI, single HDMI from STR-1000 up to my TV. STR-1000 has HDMI switching capability so when I want to change from one source to another I do it via the receiver. I connected my PC to my HT via ATi DVI->HDMI adapter->HDMI cord into receiver. So what's been happening is that when I would pick the PC HDMI source and boot up my computer I would get a display all the way up until the logon screen was to come on then I would lose HDMI signal and the screen would tell me "no signal".

I just restarted my machine again and once I lost signal at/to/from my receiver I turned on my 22" display and seen the logon screen in all it's glory. So I disconnected the HDMI cord from the PC on the back of the receiver and plugged it back in to see if that would force the handshake....nope! So then I unplugged the PC HDMI cord from the receiver and plugged it directly into the TV, selected that HDMI output on my TV and it's working fine! So that tells me that the issue is with my receiver since I bypass it and all is well.

So, now that I've got that figured out I guess it's time for me to go buy a new desktop monitor so I can get back to my desk and stop hogging up the TV with my computer activities Using my 55" HDTV has been nice, especially since I have a cordless keyboard and mouse, I can lounge on my recliner and surf the net. But I guess all good things must come to and end, right? Oh well, perfect excuse to upgrade from a 22" to a 24"+ monitor....i'm really digging that slim ASUS 24" LED display

Man, I was hoping to get some advice from you guys but it's alright cause I really needed to get a new monitor anyway cause my lady has been saying more and more how she wishes I wouldn't use the TV as my monitor (she hates when I play my music loud but that's hard for me not to do when it's coming out of my HT setup). I ended up getting the ASUS MS248H from Fry's for $189, this thing is sexy

Sorry, you said you had figured out it was the receiver causing the issue, so I figured you had it sorted. Do you have other HDMI inputs on the receiver? Do they switch fine through it? If so, the obvious step would be to plug the PC output into another HDMI input on the receiver that works for another source, and see if that works.

Or, since you apparently are set up for dual displays, turn off the 2nd display, and only use the HDMI. See if that changes anything. My 1st thought was that the PC was booting on the HDMI, then switching to the 2nd monitor. I had that happen to me and didn't realize becasue I had the 2nd monitor off.

No worries, I needed to get a new monitor anyway

My other devices switch fine via the receiver, I even switch the HDMI from the PC to another slot on the receiver but still didn't work. Once I bypassed the receiver and went directly to the TV, it worked but the audio was horrible since it was coming out of the TV speakers only....I listen to my music too much to deal with that so it was mandatory that I go get a new monitor ASAP! Did a quick search for 24"+ monitor and the ASUS MS248H was one that came up and I was diggin' it so I checked it out at Fry's and ended up coming home with one. This thing is so vivid, very impressive!

Since I had two monitors connected, I had initially set them up so the display was duplicated, but that limited my resolution to that of the smaller display so I did infact turn it off/disabled it so I could get the full 1920 x 1080 resolution.
