no icon on bootup screen

I wasnt quite sure where to post this but when i start my machine and the "starting windows" screen comes up there is no win7 icon on the screen or anything. I just get a black screen with "starting windows" written at the bottom. Ideas? I'm not dual booting by the way.

Check your MSCONFIG and make sure you have not enabled NoGUIBoot option

Hello WhiteWolf,

You might see if you have the default background image from the yellow TIP box in the tutorial below. If not, then you may be able to use the tutorial to manually set that, or a one you want instead, as the background image.

yeh i do have the default background image. It's the screen before that which doesnt display propperly.

Doing a Repair install should restore the boot screen for you.

i just did a fresh install onto a new HD and its still not working
