No Internet Access

Hello,
I have a Gateway Desktop PC which I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional. My desktop is connected directly to the internet via an ethernet cord; however, I had internet issues, so I had disabled my internet to try to refresh it; however, I am unable to re-enable it. How do I go about doing this in Windows 7? In XP it was simple. My PC won't even detect my ethernet cord connected directly to the internet.

Please help.

Just wondering how you disabled your internet in the first place?

Yesterday, I had to have my cable internet provider send a reset signal to my cable modem to get me re-connected.

if you do call your cable company, by past the idiots that first answer the phone and tell them you need to go 2nd level.

the first guys are reading from a prompt..

oh and by the way, if you didn't get your router from them, they could care less
anything pass that cat 5 cable... is not their reponsibility

I call it the doc's paid his internet bill, but the ISP haven't acted on it.

Fixed

Okay, I fixed the problem...apparently when I clicked on Local Area Connection Status and clicked disable (to try to refresh the internet), it disabled my ethernet hardware device as well. So, I had to go out to device manager and re-enable my ethernet hardware and finally now it works! Who knew it would disable my hardware too?!?
