Hello guate,

What antivirus do you have? Malwarebytes (free) may not have removed everything.

How do you connect to the internet, wirelessly or over a LAN line?
Assuming wirelessly because of the image, download your network adapter software, and then delete the one you have currently. Then install the one you've just downloaded, and if asked to use a previous profile during the installation process, say no in order to create a new one. If told there is a previous profile with the same name, click to overwrite and replace it with your new one.

If needed, download the software to a usb drive to transport it to the computer without internet

i have avg (free) antivirus. and have Mawarebytes (free), and i also think it didnt removed everything, because when i go to acitvate windows firewall it wont let me ( i have zone alarm firewall) so it doesnt matter, just mentioning.also when i checked services i noticed that the windows firewall and windows defender services were missing.
i connect to the internet with wired Ethernet.

not sure if ask this here or make another post, i been thinking of doing a full system restore to factory settings, is there a program that will let me copy programs that i have installed? reason i want to do this is because well i think my computer was taking long to start before i got this virus.

thanks for the fast reply.

Guate,

May I suggest that AVG is a terrible antivirus, and causes many problems in the windows environment, including messing with internet connections? I've witnessed this first hand multiple times. It could be a part of your problem. In order to remove it (if you take my advice), you will need to install its removal tool, since antiviruses are not easily removed. This is the link to the software called AVG remover: AVG - Download tools and utilities

Here is a well known, clean, light, and strong antivirus if you are interested in it instead: Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

I do not know much about zone alarm, but I do know windows. I recommend using the windows firewall over any other firewall (and never installing 3rd party firewalls), but again it is your choice.

You will not need windows defender if an antivirus is installed, as it automatically is disabled when you upgrade to having an antivirus (Defender becomes obsolete).

I also can help you get your computer up to speed if you would prefer not to do a clean install, but if you would rather clean install, let me know and I can link you to a good tutorial on how to do it near perfectly.

If you would like to save your programs, I am not sure how you would do it other than creating an image: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/663-backup-complete-computer-create-image-backup.html ...But then I am sure the speeds wouldn't get better if you used it with all that you have now. There is a better option of saving files and music to a USB drive and just loading them on a new clean install, but other than those 2 options, I wouldn't know a third. The second option will limit just what you can save by what you can load onto the USB drive, however, and may not be what you want. Let me know if any of this sounds good.

Could you just check this before you go for a reinstall.

Go to control panel/network and sharing centre then click on your local area connection and click properties double click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and check that everything is set to Obtain automatically.

Could print this out if you need to.
In addition, here are a few extra steps if interested to get it optimized for reinstallation: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91339-ssd-hdd-optimize-windows-reinstallation.html

you can back up your computer through windows, just use another drive or something: Backup and Restore - Windows 7 features - Microsoft Windows

If it is making noise, you might save important information, and then check it: Check a drive for errors

All hard drives make noise, is the computer acting up, or is it louder than normal? Perhaps it has more information on it that it needs to process as to why its louder?

One thing I could mention here when going to remove a similar I-Worm virus which also posed as a fake antispyware program someone made the mistake of trying to try out I ended up wiping the drive on a Vista laptop to see a clean install of Windows go on even after the bug was removed completely! It had already done a job on the system registry and wouldn't connect online.

As for AVG and other free av programs as well as having 3 or 4 other anti-adware/anti-spyware programs on back in 2010 someone pointed me at much newer update av program that also rolled up the protections seen with the other programs AVG and other av programs lack. One program does it all now! VIPRE Internet Security 2012 upgraded itself over VIPRE Home Premium which includes a very effective firewall as well.
