No Internet Connection except in Safe Mode

Greetings,

I purchased my new computer two weeks ago, and hooked up the same DSL modem from my old computer. Once I got the modem hooked up and connected to the internet, I immediately installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus (the six-months free anti-virus software that came with the computer).

I had no problem with my connection until I restarted the computer to complete the Kaspersky install. Upon restart, IE said I had no internet connection.

This is my typical routine with my computer now: I turn it on and try to connect. About 20% of the time, I can connect without doing anything. The rest of the time, I have to reboot in safe mode, and the internet connects just fine. Then when I re-reboot in normal mode, I can usually connect (although not every time).

So the modem works fine, but I can't find what is blocking the connection in normal mode. I uninstalled Kaspersky, and even did a system restore to before the install, but there is no change.

Sorry for the long post...any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
