No internet connections

Hi,
I'm havind a huge problem since updating my BIOS this afternoon.
I can't connect to the internet even though my WLAN-adaptor works fine (and shows up working fine in the device manager). I just get no connections, and when running diagnostics, it tells me to turn on the wireless capability.
Now, this is done via a hardware switch, which hasn't been working since upgrading to W7 due to non-compatible drivers. It never bothered me since I always had the connection open, but now ofcourse I have huge problems since there seems to be no software method for emulating whatever the hardware switch does.
Solutions I have tried when looking on google:
Update the manugfacturer's drivers: I did that (Medion Akoya 96350 is the model), even tried them in different compatibilities.
Turn it on in the BIOS: only options I get there is disable, or last state. It's on last state.
Does any body know if there is indeed no software way to accomplish what the hardware switch does? This is driving me literally insane.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I had a problem connecting to the internet also. I have a Dell Inspiron 530S Desktop with a wired connection via a ZyXEL router via local phone company DSL with an Intel(R)82562V-2 10/100 Network Adapter. My problem started after I installed Windows 7. The only way I could connect was by right-clicking the Network icon > Open Network & Sharing Center > Select change adapter setting > then disable and enable setting repeatedly until connection was established. After much searching of forums and verifying that drivers were correct, I stumbled on the following solution:
Start > Device Mgr. > Network Adapters (Open) > Right-click Adapter > Select Properties > Select Link Speed > Set Link Speed to "100Mbps Full Duplex" (NOT AUTO NEGOTIATION). This worked for me. Maybe it will work for someone else. BTW, to test this I switched back to Auto Negotiation (probably Default) and the problem returned.
Best Wishes and Happy Connections!
