Hi,

Can anyone help me please??? I am running Vista 64 and installed virtual pc 2007 sp1 and Windows 7 within this but can't get an internet connection.

I have looked on the forums and done the necessary like installing network driver and installing the virtual machine in vista network area but it has not worked.

I have uninstalled the virtual machine and re-booted as suggested and then re-installed but it still will not connect to the internet.

I have now run out of ideas.

Anyone help pleeaaase?

Thanks in advance.

First, you've attached a DirectX "DxDig.txt", which as exactly nothing to do with networking.

Second, have you set the Virtual Machine to have a network adapter, which in turn should be set to Shared Networking. From there, you should be able to adjust the network connection settings in the virtual OS just as you would any other "real" computer network settings...

Hi,

I attached the DxDiag so that people could see what my hardware is. I have also installed the lates Nvidia driver for the network.

I have installed the virtual machine and done everything to get it working which has been suggested in forums.

If I check the settings within the os it shows my Nvidia network card.

If I try to setup a new connection is states nothing could be found.

It also states that the local network adaptor is experiencing problems.

Thanks for your help

Have you done this?

Enabling Networking: You will need to enable networking for your virtual machine in order to activate the Windows 7 RC with the product key you received when you downloaded it. In order to enable networking, click Edit –> Settings –> Networking. If “Number of network adapters” is set to “0” then you’ll need to increase this value to “1” the next time you shut down your virtual machine since you can’t modify this value while your virtual machine is running. Next, select your physical network adapter from the “Adapter 1” drop-down. Click OK when finished. Your virtual machine should now be capable of using your network adapter.
Ctrl+Alt+Del to log in: When you get Windows 7 installed and it’s time to finally sign in it will expect you to send the usual Ctrl+Alt+Del characters to log in. But since you are running within Virtual PC, you will need to click Action –> Ctrl+Alt+Del in order to send this command to your guest virtual machine instead of your host operating system.
Virtual Machine Additions: After you log in for the first time I suggest installing the Virtual Machine Additions. This will allow your mouse to move in and out of the virtual machine without the need to press <right-Alt>, in addition to some other integration enhancements between your host and guest operating systems. To install virtual machine additions simply click Action –> Install or Update Virtual Machine Additions and follow the prompts. You will need to reboot in order for these changes to take effect.

I have just ried again to install and I get this dialogue box come up which I don't quite understand.

Virtual pc could not open the virtual machine network services.

Access to the external network and host will be unavailable to all guests using 'Nvidia nForce networking controller virtual' adaptor.

Virtual machines using virtuall networking will still be able to access other virtual machines using virtual networking.

Could someone explain what this means please?

Many thanks.

How many network adapters do you have in the drop down menu?
You need to select the one that you connect to the Internet with.

Vista 64 is the 'host' machine....virtual pc 2007 sp1 with Win7 is the 'guest' running on the host machine.
