No/limited audio after waking pc

After I wake up my pc from sleep mode, windows audio seems to be gone but only certain things. On browsers there's no audio (any video on YouTube do not have audio and stop playing after 7 seconds). The only sound that does work however is on iTunes for some reason.
I can open the playback devices fine but its does not work when I "test" it; as soon as I hit the recording devices tab, it freezes up and does not respond
The only way to get the sound back is to restart my computer all together

Are there any solutions to this problem?

EDIT* Using a soundcard as well, if this effects it in anyway

Drivers are usually a cause of problems such as this. Check with ASUS for a new driver. If no new driver is available, reinstall the current driver, as a first step.

Also, since you are using a separate sound card, your on-board (on the motherboard) audio should be disabled in the BIOS, to avoid any conflicts.

Tried reinstalling drivers, and on-board audio is disabled in BIOS, but the problem still persists

After re-reading your initial post, I would suspect some other system issue rather than a sound problem. even though sound is affected. There are probably other system devices or services that are not waking properly.

This is a problem for someone more familiar with the Operating Systems and general hardware. I would suggest reposting on a different forum section.
