No login screen

Hi, I've got Win 7 Ultimate running for about 3 months without any problems. After running Auslogics disk defragmenter option "Defragment and optimize" and rebooting the OS I get a black screen with the Win 7 logo, access options and shutdown options (see attached screenshot) instead of the login screen. I can use the available options without any problems and the OS shuts down/restarts/ sleeps etc. normally but I cannot get the normal login screen.
I have tried to run Startup repair and memory check but no errors were found.
I am wondering if a vital file has been moved by the optimization process and needs to be recovered. The progress bar (green with Microsoft logo underneath) only appears for a few seconds before giving way for the screen described above.
I don't think it is the BSoD problem and would be grateful if anyone could clarify what is going on.
Cheers.

Chris

Thanks Dan, but to do that I would need to be able to login first which I can't. And I have gone over each inch of the screen with the coursor as it would change to a line over the password box.
I have also tried restarting in safe mode without success.
My account details must be there because if I load the repair options it asks for my administrator password and recognizes it.

Thank you. I have run the memory diagnostics without any problems identified.
Elevated command prompt and system restore appear to be used from within the OS which is not possible without login and I have no previous restore points to go back to.
Cheers.

Okay, I have run the sfc /scannow command from the repair options menu and got the following message: "There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again." Needless to say that restarting does not change anything.

Did you run sfc again after the restart?

Ok, try using this to remove the password (get the boot CD,usb is tricky)
Offline NT Password & Registry Editor

This should let you into Windows without the screen.
Let us know if it works
