Hi and welcome to the forums. To start with my freind it would help people here to help you, if we knew more about the system.
If you know what hardware you have, you can just fill in the system spec in your forum control panel.

Or you can follow one of SevenForums excellent tutorials on how to get and post that info.

:)

since you've already reinstalled once, run a low-level format and then try another install again. this should kill any virii hiding in the shadows

if you haven't reinstalled windows, don't low-level format! it will wipe your disk(s) clean, you will lose all programs and data. as cyclic said, we need more info. a black screen would indicate you're not even into windows. insert the windows disk that came with your system and boot from it, that will at least get you into windows.

If you have more than one hard drive, check your BIOS settings concerning Boot disk (priority) or SATA configuration.

Sounds like a USB device this does! You say you've tried to reinstall windows and returns back to the same screen so assuming this completed the installation then the machine knows the Primary HDD is attached as this is where windows has installed to. Did the windows installation complete and reboot itself at the end?

If so and this error returns then remove all USB devices apart from mouse and keyboard if applicable then reboot.

Also maybe worth doing a BIOS reset as "should" put SATA ports as first boot devices!

Id first try to boot from the boot menu (normally F12) and selecting the HDD from there to see if it boots.

or the windows boot selector, do the peck-away at F8 and try to boot into "safe mode". if you can, go to start>control panel>device manager and look for yellow flags
