Hello everyone! After fresh instalation of Windows 7 there is no logon screen with password field and i'm sure i had it before with no password set. I've tried everything: netplwiz, tried to create another account, turn on Guest and there is only screen with users account but there is no password field after i click on my account. I repet, i'm sure i had it before. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

A fresh install will not have a logon screen unless you setup your account with a password.

I'm telling you i didn't set pass on a previously installed W7 and there was a welcome screen with blank password field. I had a second account for my son (parental control) but without pass. I'm not crazy, i know there was a welcome screen with a blank password screen and i had to press ENTER to logon. Thanks

When you only have one account, the password prompt normally is not there if you did not set a password when you did the install.

Set up another account and then you will see the 2 accounts on the logon screen.

Thanks for you reply Rich :). I have second account and there is a logon screen - "Logon1" (see attachments) like this, after i click on my account there is no second screen with password blank field like it was before - "Logon2 (see attachments). I had it on a previously installed Windows 7 and i know what i'm talking about, even if i didn't set a password. I use my comp every day and i'm more than sure that here was a second logon screen, i had to press Enter 2 times to logon...

Bazil, It looks like no one has an answer to your question. If what you have is working, then I suggest that
you move on and try some other things. I am not sure that your question is really stated properly,

Are you really saying that you want your logon screen to prompt you twice for a blank password?

From what you're saying, I take it as the following:

You do not want a password to be set, but you still want the password box to show, where you type in the password. My guess this is a trick so other people using the PC think you have a password set?

The only instance where I've seen this is if you're on a domain with a User ID, no password set. Then you would just be able to log on without using any password.

I'm on Windows 7 ultimate and when I use the command netplwiz, I have "Users enter a user name and password to use this computer" checked off. I have no password set. When windows boots, I just click on my username.

Hello guys!

Rich, you are wrong. There is no blank password field twice, only on the second logon screen. First screen is just with the users accounts without password field, then when you click on your account there is a second screen like in the picture "Logon2".

Bill, you are right. "My guess this is a trick so other people using the PC think you have a password set?"-Yes. I have "Users enter a user name and password to use this computer" checked on, and i was wandering why there is no pass field. I know, this is not a some BIG problem, i just want to know what happened after i installed my W7. I'm just like that, trying to figure out why some problem is exists ant trying to resolve it :D. I know i can set password but i don't want to resolve this problem on that way...

Thanks!
(Sorry because of my bad English)

Not much of a trick to protect your computer. IMHO the trick would be to use a PASSWORD.

Sorry there Bazil, but being sarcastic won't get you much help here.

Good luck.

Hi, bazil. Welcome to Seven Forums.

If you read the tutorial linked below, you will learn how to require a user to enter a username and password at login. It seems that you do not want the users to have to enter the username, but I have never seen that done before and thus do not know how to do it.

Log On with User Name and Password

Hi BriceH, and thanks for your welcome!

You were so close but it is not what i want and what i had before (i already tried this). I was using windows 7 over year and a half and i'm more then sure how was my logon screen. I'm sorry, maybe you've never seen this before but i assure you on my comp this was a procedure to logon.

let's move on...

One more thing: After loging i receive msg in a taskbar that one or more administrator accounts do not have a password. As long as ana administrator account had no password, any user can bypass or turn off parental controls...
Also, i never had this msg before even if i didn't set password on my previously installed windows 7.
