hey guys,

I recently built a new computer and installed the x64 windows 7 pro on it. till now it was running fine but last night when i restarted the computer... the keyboard, mouse, network audio etc (all peripherals) would not work. The keyboard and mouse work in the ASUS expressgate and BIOS but when windows starts nothing works!

anyone experience this issue? please help!! any suggestions would be nice.

I tried the ubuntu live cd and everything (all peripherals) worked! so is it my MOBO or windows 7 problem??

thx!

Welcome!

Try updating your chipset drivers. Don't know if this is possible, given the situation,

Try booting from your Installation/Repair disc. Can you use the peripherals there?

How about Safe Mode? That may be your way of updating your chipset drivers.

Hope this helps,
~Jonathan

thx for replying Jonathan...

>All the peripherals work when booting from the installation disc but i would prefer not to reformat and start over...

>same problem in safe mode...nothing works. Also the chipset drivers should be up to date as I built the computer 3 weeks ago...

Were you playing around in your BIOS by any chance? Did you disable anything?

A clean install may be your only option. Since your can use Ubuntu, you can easily back up your data. If you need any help, we are more than willing to help you.

thx again for the prompt reply!

i reinstalled win 7 again and now it works...
even though i backed up my data using ubuntu...windows saved my files under "windows.old"...

i was worried that there was something wrong with the mobo as its new...but i guess it was a windows issue...
