No restore points!

So I got a little crazy turning off and deleting stuff with Autoruns while trying to reduce my boot time, which was around four minutes.
Afterward it went to over six minutes, so I thought I'd just use system restore to put things back the way they were. I always am setting restore points whenever I mess with system settings and it has saved me repeatedly.

But I am informed that none of the recovery points (at least a dozen) have usable registry data! What? And Startup Repair had no positive result - that was a shot in the dark.

I hate to consider the possibility of needing to reinstall the OS. But that business of no usable registry data is very disconcerting.
Anybody have some insight into this?
Thank You!
Pete

That is indeed strange. I can only suggest to work with images rather than restore points - those are a bit unreliable at times.

The only time that I've noticed problems with restore points was when scans with security software had deleted data from within those restore points thus rendering them useless! Basically the data needs to remain intact for it to work and in my experience any restore points that are more than a few days old are likely to fail anyway. That's the reason why I personally prefer to keep system restore disabled and rely instead on regular system image backups.
