I have a Dell Precision M65 laptop with a Sigmatel 9200 High Definition Audio card. the sound stopped working about a month ago after some updates came down. I have tried everything driver I could find to re-enable the sound but no luck.
I finally backed up my C: drive (HD partitioned into C: and D: ) and did a clean install of Win 7 pro and now I have sound...
I know thats a drastic fix but I was desperate for sound, and tired of trying different drivers from unknown, untrusted and untested sources lest I end up with a virus and lose everything.
In all my searching no one ever suggested a clean install to resolve the issue so I thought I'd post what finally worked for me.
Just my experience yours may vary...
