No Sound please help

Hi Guys
Upgraded to windows 7 yesterday and everything seemed fine but when I come to play anything there is no sound. It seems as if it is playing ok and I can see the output volume etc but nothing out of the speakers.
In the device manager the multimedia audio controller had no driver and wont update by itself when I go into the details of this device i get this info in the hardware id.

I have a dimension 9150 and sigmatel audio drivers seem to be working correctly.

Any advice will be warmly recieved as I have tryed everything in my knowledge(which is pretty limeted to be fair).

Well, just in case, make sure all the speakers, connections, and knobs are in the correct positions. I'm sure you did this though. Next, click on the speaker button (make sure it's not muted) and click the more larger speaker button above the slider.

You can choose your audio device, and if it doesn't show up, then you know you have a problem. Anyways, look around there and the levels tab.

If none of this works, go to the hardware creator for the sound and download a vista driver. if you got a basic sound option, go to your computer manufacturer's page, and download the basic sound driver.

Your driver is probably not working. otherwise you would be hearing sound.

ADDING ON TO ABOVE: also make sure your speakers haven't gone bust on you. try a different set.

I think it is driver related to be honest. When you say the sigma drivers seem to be working what exactly do you mean because it is sort of contradictory to what you said about the device manager.

Thanks for the replys . I have got it going . I downloaded the vista drivers for realtek a97 or something like that and it is away. Not sure what them sigmatel drivers are but they sure did confuse the whle situation.
