Sorry if this has been answered in another thread but I'm really having no joy!

Have a 4 year old system, recently upgraded from xp to 7 professional and the sound has stopped working since install.

The properties says that the 'high definition audio device is working properly but no sound through rear jack or headphones.
I have updated, tried to find new drviers, tried to find any drivers from ASUS. I tried to install the 'new' realtek driver but nothing (should this one work with most onboard sound devices?).
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers quite a few times to try to get it to work.

Running out of ideas, please help

(I will post any further success or failure...)

You may need to also update your graphics driver. Is your graphics card listed in device manager as a VGA?

@ FZ21Z: The graphics card driver is up to date as far as I'm aware - I will double check but think that it installed new driver last night before posting here. The card can be seen in my specs - its an onboard Nvidia nothng fancy

@ youreviltwin: The sound properties say rear panel jack - again will check later (when at home) for exact wording. The headphone socket on the front isn't working either (was before) one reason why I am suspicious of the divers.

Thanks

Iain
