So I recently installed Windows 7 on my pc (a little old, i have to admit) and I realized I have no sound. My drivers cd isn't working, because it supports only XP or less. The Windows device installing... thing kinda installed all my drivers, including the sound. But at the Sound window in Control Panel there are no speakers listed. I tried to download the driver from Realtek, but with no succes. I also discovered that my motherboard isn't intalled as well (the audio card is incorporated).

Here are some screenshots:

Just a thought but you may be able to use the XP driver by instaloing it in "compatibility" mode.

To do that right click the installer>properties>compatibility>check XP

On many systems the Chipset Drivers (for the motherboard) must be installed before installing device drivers. The chipset drivers identify the devices such as the sound chip that are on the motherboard. On a new install the usual (required) sequence is (1) Install OS (2) Install chipset drivers (3) Install device drivers.

Usually, the XP drivers will not work as Vista and Windows 7 handle sound functions differently than XP.
