Heh,

I've recently updated my computer from Windows XP to Windows 7. Now I want to connected to a server with SSH using putty.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work: "unable to connecto to... Host does not exist". I tried to connect with the Windows-telnet application
and got a reply from the server. I've already tried to deactivate the firewall, but I didn't have success.

Do you have any idea how I can use putty to connect to a server with SSH under Windows 7?

Kind regards,

Hi,

I use putty no problem connecting to a webhost on the internet and I have my Firewall on and a normal nat router. It worked first time without having to open up any ports on the router or unblocking on the Windows firewall.

Double checked the hostname you put in putty ? Have you the right port selected, although i think by default it's set to 22.

Also try using the IP instead of the hostname.

Cheers,

Cacker

Dear Cracker,

thank you for your answer. I used the same profile that I used with putty
on Windows XP. In addition, I'm using the IP-Address.

Hi,

Try creating a new profile. I wonder if its trying to use the same RSA key ?

Hi,

thanks for your answer. I finally managed to get a connection. Originally,
I used a IP address with the format xxx.0xx.xxx.xxx. If I omit the 0, it
works...

Thanks, again
