No Welcome Screen

My computer is running normally but without the Welcome screen at startup
After the Windows7 logo the screen goes black and does not show anything (the blue Welcome screen) until it auto login to my desktop.
If I create 2 account, I will have to blindly press enter to choose an account to login. But after log off I can see both of them.

Normally its fine but if there is some updates, the computer will install the updates under black screen so it's quite annoying not being able to see what's going on

Try opening an elevated command prompt.(Start-all programs-accessories-right click on command prompt-select run as administrator) Run SFC /SCANNOW Notice the space between sfc and /. This is a system file checker, it will scan the integrity of system files and repair them if it can.

Have you ever had a login screen? If so try to use a restore point and restore back to when you had the login screen.
Also you might try going to start-type msconfig-on the boot tab make sure 'No GUI' is not checked.

If that does not work, look at this thread and see if it applies to you.

Hi there
you might have activated the "Auto login" feature

Choose RUN from the menu and type the following command

CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2

un check the box users must enter a name and password to logon.

(Ensure you have a password set for your account)

For people who WANT to logon automatically bypassing the login screen simply click the checkbox then enter the user name and password you want to be logged on when the machine boots.

@essenbe: thanks but these does not seem to solve the problem
and the thread is for another problem that I do not have

@jimbo45: i meant the Welcome screen with the word "Welcome..." not the login screen

As a last resort before a repair install, Download Microsoft Security Essentials amd Malwarebytes (Both Free) and run a full scan. Make sure you update them both before the scan. Let us know if they find anything.
