No Windows 7 boot after aborting Linux install

I really messed this up. I was playing with a bootable usb with Ubuntu on it and was curious to see what was involved in installing it on my computer. After getting into the various menus I decided to cancel/ exit the install. After that I could not restart my computer into windows. I just got a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. I tried a Windows start up disc and it would say loading files and get to the splash screen and then display a error code >Error 0x4001100200001012< . Is there something else I can try?

Unless you got to a point in the Ubuntu install where it told you it was making changes to your HDD... it shouldn't have made any changes to your HDD. In that case you probably just need to reconfigure boot order in BIOS.

Searching the error code you posted brings up a post suggesting it's caused by a bad disc.

I know, stupid question, but did you reset your Boot Order, it might matter?

Since this happened in Ubuntu you could try and repair the mbr with the Ubuntu USB. You would boot up Ubuntu, open Terminal and run these commands on by one, each time hitting Enter. The boot-repair will install and load all by itself.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair && boot-repair

Then when the boot-repair tool opens up, (which it should all by it self) Choose Tab "MBR" Options.

Make sure the "Restore MBR of" is the proper one.

And Partition booted by MBR is the proper one, they should be by default unless you actually made changes with Ubuntu or have multiple drives. Then click Apply. Look at the Fifth Screenshot down at this link.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to provide us with a screenshot of your drives. Start>right click computer>manage>then choose disk management and let it open. Take a screenshot and post it here.

When you went to install Ubuntu, did it say it was installing alongside Windows or replacing Windows?
