No Wired Network After rebooting

Hi,

I have just rebooted my Laptop and Windows 7 is now telling me that there is no Internet Connection, the Cable is working fine as the router is showing a full Gigabit connection and I can connect to my NAS fine.

But if I connect to the same router Wirelessly I have no problems!

As I can connect to the Internet wirelessly obviosuly my Cable Connection is working, and the Internet cable between the Laptop and the router works (or I wouldn't be able to access my NAS), so I am not sure what could be causing this.

I did last night install some Windows Updates so not sure if this could have caused the problem!

Any ideas.

Thanks,

Hi Gavin and welcome.
If I'm not mistaken you are saying that your wireless setup is working fine but your direct wire from your laptop to your router doesn't work.

I would ask myself I installed something prior to this bootup that may have caused this. Any new software install of Win7 updates?

I would first turn off my wifi on my laptop and then try to hookup to the wired router. I know this may sound strange but it's an quick and easy elimination just in case.

I would then check my network card under device manager and see if it has an error by a large exclamation point. I would also check and see if I have the latest drivers and try to update (wirelessly of course)

This is just a start. Let me know what you find out?

Hi,

Thanks for the help, not sure if my router was having a moment or what, but when I tried the machine later it worked again with no problems on wired, very strange!
