Noctua is designing a new double fin-stack D-type CPU Cooler its prototype is on display at Computex. Its heatsink follows the same design principle as the NH-D14, and is roughly the same size, but with a few design optimizations. First, the two aluminum fin stacks aren't cuboidal. Towards the bottom, the fins are narrower, creating more room for components on the motherboard, next to the heatsink (such as memory modules and VRM heatsinks). The recessed lower fins create 60 mm of height clearance for memory modules. The density of the aluminum is also increased, with 50 fins, increasing surface area. The 120 mm NF-P12 from the original NH-D14 design are replaced by the company's new Focused Flow 120 mm fan.

Where do you want to fit this beside a custom case?! Even then, there's no way in hell, you'll be able to fit this with the rest of the components...

Saw this elsewhere the other day and even as a NH-D14 owner, I wouldn't touch this.

It's just too much...

I wouldn't be too quick to judge this, because it is a prototype, and it does say that they are in the process of designing it. The final version could be quite different.

In that case I retract my statement. The original linked one looks all right. Not overly different from my current one TBH.

It may just be a prototype, but once it's hit that stage they generally don't change drastically.


If nothing else, it will be interesting to see how well the newer fans perform.

Same here, although I just have a fan either side of the single sink....I'm pretty sure its already bowed the MB a bit..........
