I finally was able to get a working copy - not sure what happened but, since I had bought a new hard drive specifically for the use of 7 without having to backup or worry about any crashing - I had a problem that i think I found out later the reason why i had to take a different route but, ending installing from my VISTA set-up disk - then downloaded in that state - so, not sure if it worked because, of no antivirus at the time - I don't know can't think of anything for the cause other but, it did take me several on the other & always had the corrupt problem BUT it finally did work SO, I can't say BUT, I can tell you after a day now, that is alot like VISTA - you have more control over the appearance however, with me you have to run a screen res of 1024 x 768 - if, you run 800 x 600 which I run on my other operating systems it's kind of blurry SO, to compensate for the small look of the 1024 x 768 resolution you have to use a larger font size - there are certain key feature missing at the moment like e-mail BUT, you can download WINDOWS LIVE ESSENTIALS & has an e-mail program included similar to WINDOWS MAIL on VISTA - everything is pretty much task bar driven SO, for me - I had to create short cuts on my desktop to key programs & folders as you would normally have it with XP or VISTA - there are certain places that you can get a classic view look but, not in all like you can on XP and NOT from the START/ PROGRAMS - the new version of AVAST ANTI-VIRUS (which is free & has some great praise) does work with 7 AND I also installed ADVANCED SYSTEM CARE to keep it optimized 7 tuned up -- it does NOT come with word persay BUT, the new version of WORDPAD does have more ability than old so, they may have consolidated to this --- HOWEVER, of course being still technically a beta I sure MS may still & I sincerely hope add more features & abilities before the final release - I am so glad i was able to get the download to work as it stands right now I am grateful for NOT having to have bought this system at this time -- it is very much like VISTA but, at the moment alot of key features & abilities missing that you have with VISTA -- SO, you definitely stick with VISTA or even better XP which still stands to me as the best so far EXCEPT ONLY: for the stability that you have with VISTA or 7
