Solved Non-specific BSOD

toranaboy, I'm not sure what you mean by your post is gone. I can see all 20 posts in this thread. My experience is, that when you have a lot of BSODs and all different drivers and all different codes, there I something else going on , and the dump files are blaming everything else. We can test almost every component except the PSU and the Motherboard itself. We diagnose those as nothing else is wrong, so it gas to be one of those. Kind of the process of elimination. Personally, I hope memtest86+ fails. That would be the easiest and cheapest solution for you.

The sfc not passing makes it kind of bad for you. That is a system file checker that checks protected system files and attempts to fix them. Can you tell me what it did? did it not run at all or did it run and say there were errors it couldn't fix? Also, are you having problems with USB devices and no graphics adapter? Perhaps those are driver issues, what dies Device manager say when you expand graphics adapters? If you need drivers, you can download them from ASRock > B75 Pro3-M Just select your OS. Also, how old is your Son? Kids sometimes don't realize what's really going on and download stuff they want and pay no attention to where they're downloading it from. I would suggest you run a few virus scans such as the free Malwarebytes and eset online scanner. My Sister has this problem all the time, because she lets her grandchildren use her computer. They download innocent stuff, but from the wrong places and ends up with so many viruses and junkware that it's almost impossible to get rid of them all. If you want, I can get you a few links to run virus scans, I'll also post some instructions to run memtest86+, in case I haven't already. But when you run it, you can stop it if you get even 1 error. That's a fail and no reason to continue, it's a waste of time.

Please Run Memtest86+
picture.php

   Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you mat have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask

scannow ran and identified, but failed to fix errors. I don't know about USB device problems except that I have swapped wifi adapters in hopes of establishing that they are the problem. I pulled out the video card early on after Arc's suggestion failed to save the day. The only problem identified by Device Manager concerns the ethernet driver which is not in use and is said not to be required. I carefully installed all the ASRock drivers with the re-install, and all are apparently working. The lad is 10 but he has a registered Malwarebytes install. I don't know eset. I will look into it. You are so right about kids though. As you obviously know, the crap they end up with is unbelievable, and time-consuming to fix. One of the reasons I went with PCs for the youngsters was I thought they were a more demanding environment than consoles and I foolishly thought the little blighters would become interested, like me, in the pc as a neat thing in itself. HA! It's just a cranky console to them, the ingrates! :) I run MSE on my machines. I haven't had any infections (so far). btw I love the Ben Kenobi avatar. Made me chuckle.

Ole Ben makes a lot of people chuckle, at least the ones old enough to know who he is. I don't recall you giving us the system specs for the machine in question, or are they the ones in your system specs in the bottom left? can you tell me where you bought the Windows 7 DVD? If you would, please read this and download the newer Windows 7 version you have with the Media refresh and let's try a new install, just a little different way. Are you up to that? If so, please don't do it until we talk first. I would also like you to download, if you don't still have them, your Chipset driver, Lan Driver and USB 3.0 driver. That's about all we will need for right now. Also, please install Microsoft security essentials, and nothing else, for right now. Please read over this and get familiar with the process, I may want to try it a little different though.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html But first I would like you to download the Hatachi had drive diagnostics and run the short and long test. that will have made us run almost all diagnostic tests we can run. Am I correct that you have no graphics card in right now? Please answer the questions above and run those tests and maybe we can make some headway. If you are running a wireless adapter instead of a Lan, you may need those also.

My kids (10 and 11) know ole Ben really well.
I don't recall you giving us the system specs for the machine in question, or are they the ones in your system specs in the bottom left?
They've been updated as requested.
can you tell me where you bought the Windows 7 DVD
Reputable online retailer in Australia. I can't remember who but I don't buy from crooks.
If you would, please read this and download the newer Windows 7 version you have with the Media refresh
My build is Feb 14, is that recent enough?
and let's try a new install, just a little different way. Are you up to that?
I am a veteran of dual booting with OS/2 Warp. Need I say more :)
If so, please don't do it until we talk first. I would also like you to download, if you don't still have them, your Chipset driver, Lan Driver and USB 3.0 driver.

The quote feature is just to quote something someone said and reply to it. Just as you did. Or you can copy a couple of lines out of it and paste it in the reply box and highlight it and click the quote icon at the top of the screen View attachment 326858 and it will make it a quote. Like this.

You will discern that I haven't got clue one as to how to use the quote feature. Please forgive me :)

It's just a matter of getting used to it. Or you can quote a post and make 1 or 2 lines in it Bold, By highlighting that line and it will let the other person know, that line is what you are talking about.

You will discern that I haven't got clue one as to how to use the quote feature. Please forgive me :)

Kind of like that. You can delete anything you want between the QUOTE and /QUOTE tags you want to. I left the brackets off so and wouldn't show up as a quote.

Lost Report

I thought I had posted the results of a hard disk test some days ago. I must have stuffed up. Anyway, the Hitachi software failed to start so, rather than try to find a working version, I borrowed Spinrite and ran it. Nothing remarkable happened.

I really don't know a lot about spinrite, but if it is a decent test, that's OK. If you would like to try Seatools from Seagate, you can download the DOS version at SeaTools for DOS | Seagate If you are ready for the Install, let me know before you do it and I'll give you a slightly different way to do it. It will take more time, but since we're having so many problems, it may be worth the effort. I do it with all my drives, just to be sure, any of the viruses or other bad things on the drive wil not be carried over. Many viruses and things can survive a normal format. But it will take a few hours to do it, but the drive will be completely clean of everything.

First, disconnect 1 wire from every hard drive you have except the 1 drive you want Windows installed on.

Next boot from the installation DVD or USB drive (Yes, you can put the installation DVD on a USB drive). When you get to the first screen where it asks You to choose your language, don't choose. Hold down shift and press F10, you will get a command prompt. Type these commands and press enter after each one, then wait for the command prompt to respond.
diskpart
list disk
select disk 0 (number 0 not letter. Diskpart will assign each drive a number, since you only have 1 drive connected your drive should be 0, if not use the correct number)
clean all ( go have lunch or something, it will take several hours. But it will be perfectly clean when you get through. Nothing will survive) It will tell you when it's through. it will say diskpart succeeded in cleaning the disk. It will look like nothing is happening, but it is working. I would guess 3-4hours.

create partition primary - it will create a partition of the whole drive.
exit and press enter will take you back to X sources where you were
exit and press enter again will take you back to the choose your language screen.
continue and install as normal. Select the drive and click install.
Anything you don't understand, just ask. so, the commands you will give and press enter after easc one and the response you will receive are.
diskpart reply will take a few seconds but will reply diskpart
list disk it will reply showing each disk in the machine. You should have only 1, numbered 0.
select disk 0 reply will be disk 0 is the selected disk
clean all reply will be diskpart succeeded in cleaning the selected disk - after a few hours
create partition primary response will be diskpart created the specified partition, will be of the whole disk.
exit response will be X sources
exit and the window will close and you will be back where you started.

Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. You can do anything you want. If you do not want the 100 MB System Reserved, let me know. If you want to install windows on just part of the drive and have another partition for data or storage, let me know. If you have a problem, let me know.

Before you start, go to the motherboard's web site and download the chipset driver and the Lan driver. If you are using Wireless get that driver also download the graphics driver from either AMD or Nvidia whichever card you have. (I don't remember) after the install is complete. Put them onto a USB drive or CD when you download them, so you can install them later. For a day or so, don't connect any other drives. Also, before you start the install, back up all of your personal files, music, pictures, Documents and such to another drive, preferably to an external drive.

Once the install is complete and you are on the desktop, install the Chipset driver, then the Lan driver (to enable you to connect to the internet unless Windows installed it for you, then the graphics driver) Next run all of the Windows updates, there will be over 100. Just look at them and don't install the graphics driver if it chooses one. After all of the updates are finished, install Microsoft security essentials Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows as an AV, then install nothing else. keep it that way for a few days and see how it runs. We will know that there are no driver problems if it does not BSOD. Keep it a completely clean install.

Did the install go OK? Any problems? Try to just let it run the way it is for a few days or until you are sure, it's stable. Then slowly add 1 program at a time and test it after each one until you find the one causing you problems. yea, I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the way it has to be done to find out.
