Solved "Not a valid font file". Huh?

I use both Mac & Windows 7 & want to convert some Mac's dfont to Windows 7 ttf. I straighten out some my earlier permission issues I had with the C:\Windows\fonts folder but now get the dreaded "Not a valid font file" when trying to install the converted fonts. I used Dfontsplitter to do the conversion. Can't seem to find help doing searches here & at Google.

Any ideas?

I'm not familiar with Dfontsplitter but does it create OTF or TTF files? How are you trying to install them?

Dfontsplitter converts to ttf. Windows font viewer won't open them as it would a typical ttf. I don't get it. Why is it so difficult to install fonts?

It's not difficult. I install and un-install fonts quite frequently. Perhaps Dfontsplitter is creating an invalid file. Will the TTF file open with another viewer like Irfanview? Or if you have a hex file viewer, verify that the first five characters of the file are: 00 01 00 00 00.

Irfanview wouldn't open it either. Just one of those that won't convert properly. Not a big deal. Thanks for trying!

I've run across that a few times. It could be the original font file was missing some of the required data fields. This can happen with fonts created by individuals. Search (Google, Bing, etc.) on the font name or type and see if it's available somewhere else in TTF format.

Don't dump Irfanview. It's handy "do-all" viewer and photo resizer/editor. I've been using it for years.
