Hi all,

I have a HP Pavilion laptop (dv6810us). It's about 1.5 years old, so it came w/Vista. I currently have it dual booted w/7 Premium, and everything works fine except for the display. In the Vista boot, i get 1280x1024, very clear. When i boot into 7, it says it displaying the same resolution, but it looks horribly fuzzy, and the icons are larger.

I've tried all display/control panel options thus far, and i've ensured that i have all settings to their highest level. I've searched HP's website for compatible 7 display drivers, but nothing has been released. Is it that my laptop simply cannot handle 7?

It may be best if you fill in your computer specs.

You don't say if you have 32 or 64 bit, plus the specs need to be put in the link at bottom left of your posts for others to see as we go forward.

Have you tried uninstalling your Display adapter driver in Device Manager and forcing reinstall by restart?

You can then try the one which the Auto updater finds on the Driver tab of the Display adapter.

Continuously check Windows Updates for a newer one which may have arrived.

Next find the video driver on your computer model's Support downloads web page to see if it is different. If the problem persists, try installing it in Vista compatibility mode by right clicking the .exe file, selecting Properties then adjusting Compatibility tab.

Lastly find and install the driver on the Nvidia website for your video adapter. If the problem persists, try the Vista driver, then try it in Compatibility Mode.

At any point you can roll back to the previous driver using the button on the Device Driver tab. You can also see the full list of drivers you've added by selecting the Browse>Let Me Pick option on the Update Driver button on the Driver tab.

Usually about the time you know these drivers by memory, you will find the fix.

Hi Greg.

I updated my specs, though they're the same as in the link i posted. I'm running 32-bit in both Vista and 7.

I had not tried uninstalling my driver while in 7 and rebooting. However, i have grabbed the newest version of my driver from NVidia's website. No luck. I've also grabbed the latest version from HP's site and run it in both regular and Compatibility mode. Again, no luck. The HP rep i spoke to suggested that if the driver (direct from Nvidia's site) didn't work, my laptop might not be compatible w/7 at all, but that seems suspect to me.
