I thought my old USB wifi adapter went bad, so I bought another usb wifi adapter and it also says, "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it." So with 2 USB wifi adapters saying this I thought weird but I went and bought a TP-Link wdn3800 PCI wireless adapter and it is also saying the same thing, and driver install failed. A device attached to the system in not funcitoning. I have went through all trouble shooting steps in computer management, manually trying to install drivers from disk as well as newest drivers from website. I know now it cant be 3 bad devices, something else is wrong here. I am using windows 7 home premium 64 bit on a M5A97 motherboard. Chipsets are up to date. Any and all help is appreciated since this is my business PC.
Thank you please help me.
Jason

Still having Issues

Thank you for the response. I tried that program and tried to use my old usb wifi adapter that works on another computer and still doesnt work. I bought a PCI wifi card and it says the same thing. It is as if no Wireless adapters are allowed to be installed. Very weird. I am not sure what would cause this. It allows me to connect via wired connection just not wifi adapters of any kind USB or PCI. Any other ideas?
Thank you

Hmm, have you tried uninstalling all usb devices and reinstalling them?

Please Run sfc /scan now using option 2 in this tutorial: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Please post back the results.
Please indicate what message was displayed at the end:

Windows found no integrity violations

OR

Corrupt files were found, and windows was unable to fix them.

OR

Corrupt files were found, and windows successfully repaired them

For a super quick fix,

You might also want to try a repair install,

as the repair install will only reinstall windows but will keep all programs and documents.

If there were no integrity violations most likely a repair install is not needed.

I also want to confirm you have uninstalled all usb devices found in device manager and then restarted.

With my daughters' Netgear wireless USB adaptor I had to install the drivers first, then plug the adaptor in. Is this the way you've gone about it? If not, worth a try.

Windows upgrade

I tried everything and the only thing that worked was installing windows 7 as an upgrade keeping all files. It said something about a missing .Net Framework other than that I have no idra what the problem was as I never deleted anything or ran any registry cleaning software. Very odd thanks for your help and walkthrough. I literally tried all basic troubleshooting and some advanced before I posted on here. So thank you.
