Not being prompted for Admin credentials anymore

Hi,

I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, when I first installed the OS and setup my standard user account I would get a pop up credentials box when I attempted to install a program or went to things like "Advanced system settings" now I don't and am not allowed to do anything. I don't even get a prompt, but get denied, when trying to delete some desktop icons.

I don't even receive a prompt when I right click and select "Run as administrator".

Is there a security / system setting that I can change to receive the credentials prompt again?

Hello Mark, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You may have turned off UAC. You can double check using the tutorial below to make sure it's set at least to it's default level, but I would recommend the top level for better security.

Hey Thanks, that was it - not sure what changed this setting but I've put it back to the top and things seem back to they way they were.
