Not connected - No connections are available

Greetings.

Here's my latest issue. Until a few days ago my internet was working just fine. I have cable service and I am hard wired to the modem via the integrated LAN on my Mobo (I also have a wireless router for everything else in the house). One night everything works, the next morning nothing on my PC (my iPad still connects) with the following error:

'Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver'

I hadn't been messing with updates or drivers, so I wasn't sure where this was coming from. In anycase, I did as instructed but to no avail. The 'Network Adapter' section doesn't even show up on Device Manager.

Doing some quick google searching, I saw some people had problems with the Mobo LAN dying, so I popped in a brand new PCI NIC and Windows won't even find that (I hadn't had any PCI cards in my machine, so not sure If i needed to change any BIOS settings or anything to get it to be seen, but nothing obvious from what i can tell). I have an old PCI wireless card, but I can't seem to find any drivers compatible for Win 7 x64.

I made a jpeg after running ipconfig, but there's nothing to see since I don't even have a connection. I ran the cache cleaner as well. I powered down and unplugged for 15 minutes. I thought about the MS system restore function but its already too late to restore before last Friday.

Running out of ideas here other than starting over with a fresh Win7 install.

Any help?

Your specs say Home Built. Did your MB come with a Disc for installing MB drivers ?

Ya, i tried the CD first but it didnt have drivers for Win 7. I then tried the latest drivers from Asus but no luck. Like i said, my card doesnt even show up in Device Manager anymore...

so maybe i should know this but i dont, but how do i install this driver if the PC isn't even finding the hardware? there's no real .exe file on that download as far as i can tell...
