I burned the windows 7 iso image onto DVD using Nero and the image looks good, installed it in a virtual machine on my linux laptop. When I go to load the same DVD on my old AMD semperon (2.0mhz)system (2.0gig of mem, 160 gig HD), it will not read the DVD. I made another image and still the same deal. I loaded both DVD's on my Ubuntu laptop and reads them there. Any suggestions?

I also get an message saying -> cannot boot from drive Error 5

(I found this from a google search - but I don't have windows installed and even Linux reads the CD once it is mounted-I don't understand what I have to do to get it to boot from it)

Code 5
The driver for this device requested a resource that Windows does not know how to handle. (Code 5)

To fix this, click Update Driver to update the driver for this device.

Solution button: Update Driver

This code indicates that there was a device failure due to the lack of an arbitrator. If a device requests a resource type for which there is no arbitrator, you receive this error code.

To resolve this problem, update the driver as suggested, or use Device Manager to remove the device and then run the Add New Hardware tool in Control Panel.

I guess it is a hardware problem as you can see by the screenshots -- it loads in a virtual machine without problem, running off the DVD drive in the laptop

Do you have a DVD drive on the old PC? It may sound like a dumb question but it's legitimate.

Will any other bootable CD/DVD work in the drive.

Yes, I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on that machine using the same drive, that was an ISO image on DVD.

Sounds like the DVD isn't bootable. Where did you find a Win7 ISO? Is it the Win7 installation DVD or is it an ISO of an existing istallation?
