Not responding on mouse click

Usually when using an internet browser (firefox or internet explorer) and windows explorer windows, I try to click to switch tabs and it doesn't respond.
It shows (Not Responding) for a split second and won't switch tabs.
I end up having to click a whole bunch of times before it switches.

This same kind of thing happens with explorer windows when trying to restore them from the minimized state. It just won't respond and multiple clicks are needed before seeing any action. This has been happening for awhile now but I figure it just may be another bug.

Has anyone else been getting this problem, or know of any solutions?

Jacee-Yea I checked my drivers. Everything is up to date. Also I just purchased this computer a few months ago so there should be nothing wrong with my computer.

Osrl-Still haven't figured out whats causing it and found no solutions yet. I really just have the feeling it's just the Windows 7 operating system. It isn't consistent and only happens now and then, yet is still very annoying. Probably just like how Vista was when it first came out. Now Vista is great, no complaints, running it on my desktop and it works perfectly. This will probably just take some time for Microsoft to figure out.

If any of you tech guys know what is causing this or how to fix, let us know as I'm sure there are many with this problem. :/

Hi I am having the exact same problem myself. Word for word. Had it for ages. Only started in RTM version. Beta and RC were fine.

Another thing which is related; when I am typing an address in the firefox address bar, sometimes the window will do the same thing and highlight what I have typed so I end up deleting what I have just wrote. Very annoying.

Was going to start afresh with windows but hopefully someone has a solution?

I have the same trouble.

I extends to other programs too. City of Heroes is affected the most making it nearly unplayable. It will flash between the game and desktop madly for a few seconds on most mouseclicks. Sometimes just shutting the game down.

Star Wars Galaxies is affected the least. Shuts down occasionally and flashes only once usually at which point it puts the window title bar up and you can briefly see it showing not responding.

Firefox shows that too.

I've got the latest updates and drivers, reinstalled the programs, drivers, everything. Not a clue how to fix it and its ruined City of Heroes for me. The other stuff is tolerable but amazingly annoying.

Amazingly, this seems to have worked for me too. :D I will have to do more testing first just to make sure, but it definitely seems to have fixed the problem.

I am so glad as this was driving me insane. It was starting to make my PC unusable. was that close to formatting it and starting again...

Thanks :)

It says (not responding) when you click on something with the mouse in firefox browser? or programs, games etc? You have to click multiple times to enable programs to respond? First and foremost, you need to check if a driver is missing and if not, go into the application compatibility and make so that older programs will run on your Windows version. I guess you must have Windows 7 for this to work. This worked great for me. I never thought this would work but it did! Good luck and please write back if this worked for you. Sincerely, Jonas Andersson
