Hello,

plese can anybody help me, at the end of my tether, i purchased an upgrade from a shop, including Processor, motherboard, graphics card, and Windows 7, existing items one sata hard drive and IDE hard drive, & DVD drive, 3 GB RAM. ( 1GB RAM & 2 GB RAM purchased one month prior to upgrade)

Prior to upgrade the computer was freezing often program would show "not responding". The shop was asked to format hard drive (sata) (which is only six months old) and put windows 7 on the disk. However i have continued to have problems when using programs often showing "not responding" i have taken the PC back to the shop several times and they say it "passes" there "bench" tests, but despite this it continues to freeze.

I have used computer in safe mode, and it doesn't "freeze" but runs slower, i have disconnected DVD drive, Graphics card, IDE hard drive, and it still freezes, i have deleted partition and re-installed Windows 7 and nothing else but still freezes.

Other than throwing PC out the window or hitting it with a sledge hammer is there anything else i can do? Also what "bench" tests would they have done?

your help would be really appreciated :)

Please update the BIOS on your motherboard by following the instructions at the Gigabyte website. Be VERY, VERY careful as a bad BIOS flash can kill your motherboard.

Also check the Gigabyte site for any other firmware updates that may be available.

Here's the error that I found:

A new BIOS chip (if available) or a new mobo.

But, the errors point to it being necessary - so it's your choice.

I've done many BIOS flashes and none have ever failed on me.
I triple check everything.
I walk through the instructions BEFORE trying it.
I don't do anything that it doesn't say in the instructions (not even pressing the Space Bar/Arrow key if the process seems stuck).
I don't do it at peak hours (power surges) and don't allow kids/animals in the room when I'm doing it (accidents).
And, finally, I keep my fingers crossed during the entire process :0)

Good luck!

I have no idea why it does that. I recommend updating no more than 2 BIOS versions at a time (F1, then F3, then F5).

No, update with F3.
Then, once you're updated to F3, then update to F5.

Don't worry about "being thick" - we were all there at one point. That's why these forums exist, so that we can learn!

Do this one first: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/BIOS/mb_bios_ga-m68m-s2p_f3.exe
Then turn the system on and make sure that it works normally.

Once you're convinced that it's working right (an hour or two at most), then do this one: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/BIOS/mb_bios_ga-m68m-s2p_f5.exe

Follow the directions EXACTLY. If unsure, don't do anything until you review the documentation.

Good luck!
