Not sure if installed correctly

So I just built a new pc and I was installing Windows 7, but I did not realize that my product key was only for upgrading, therefore the product key kept failing. So I took my Windows XP disc and tried to install that but my pc would not boot from the CD-rom, it just kept going to the Windows 7 setup. So after trying to boot from the cd-rom without success, I just tried going through the Windows 7 setup menu to see if I could do anything. When it came to entering the product key, I just hit enter and it went past that. Now I'm at the Windows 7 desktop but I'm not sure if it was done correctly. I didn't want to connect online and risk having my key invalidated. Not too sure what to do now. BTW, I'm on a laptop right now.

You'll need to do the quick registry workaround in the tutorial posted in Post #2 to activate Upgrade version when the older OS isn't on the HD.

Win7 should activate then when you install the Key at Computer>Properties link.
