Solved Not sure why

So I had to wipe out my hard drive and reload Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Now I have two machines, mine and my wife's. They are identical in hardware and we are both using Windows 7 which I did all the loading back a year ago.

So here is the strange part and maybe this is normal, but I wanted to ask you guys and see what you think. So I have 2 questions, first

In pic called "Capture" is what her Windows Update settings looks like.

In pic called "Capture1" is what mine looks like. I cannot figure out why ours looks different now.

2nd question - I also noticed that our updates are now completely different, mainly on my system the listing is shorter. My theory is that I am getting the newer updates while back then I had to get all the ones prior to the newer ones.

What do you guys think on both these questions?

have you installed other microsoft software on the first machine, such as office or mse, which isn't on the other pc?

M&M - I do have Office 2010 loaded on both. Come to think about it though, I cannot remember that one time it asks if you want updates. There were three selections.

BFK - You are right, I don't have that option. Is that because of Office 2010, that maybe I set it wrong, not to update?

If my Office was loaded with no updates set up, should I just uninstall then reinstall and make sure it is set for updates?

How about the 2nd question, about the differences in updates? I have less than she does when it comes to updates and securities. We basically have all the same programs, just different games like she has Dragon Age while I have Battlefield BC2.

Reset to Never Check for updates, reboot.
Reset to check for updates, run check for updates.

Okay, I did that, rebooted and then reset to check for updates, ran the updates. Same results. That option that BFK shows does not appear.

You are on to something. Mine on the last line says "For Windows Only". Just checked my wife's system and hers has the line like yours.

So it seems like my Office 2010 was (or maybe I did a noob thing) was set for no updates. So how can reset that, to get Office 2010 updates?

I'm sure others know more about this than I do, but this occurred to me. MS does monthly updates. Then along comes Service Pack One, which is basically all the past updates rolled into one. Maybe your wife shows all the monthly updates, but you only show Service Pack One and all the monthlys after that.

Yes, but when I click on "Find out more", it does nothing nor does it launch IE or my Firefox. Any suggestions?

You guys rock. First it the reason it did nothing is because I had IE8 uninstalled as a feature. Reinstalled and then rebooted. Click on the wording and I got the web window BFK sent.

Did everything and now I get the office updates!!!!!!

I think I am good to go from here, thanks again!!!!!
