:mad:Since upgrading my os to windows 7 "professional" I have spent most of my time trying to locate patches and downloads to fix the myriad of problems I am having with it. Now I find if I want to update the drivers to keep the screen from constantly flickering I have to download yet another third party program and pay for some ** subscription to their service! If this is the sort of product Microsoft intends to produce then I will start shopping around for another os. Between the screen flickering, the data I have lost, the constantly freezing applications and all of the time and money I have wasted trying to make this program run as well as XP did, I could have hired a stenographer to record and type up all my data by hand.

Perhaps an "upgrade" was not the best choice. The overwhelming majority of us came from a "clean" install and are not experiencing the types of problems that you seem to be having.

Uh... well to pick out one thing...

There is NO reason to every have to subscribe to some service to download drivers. There are a ton of scam sites out there that would ike to have you believe that though.

What video card do you have? Laptop or PC? How old? Hve you gone to the Video card manufacturers website and DLed the drvier from them directly?

There are a lot of factors to consider when upgrading an OS. Clean install or upgrade the OS with your hardware are generally (and always have been) the best options. Especially if we are talking about a laptop or an old machine :(

Ah, once again a person comes in to bash Windows 7 for what is clearly issues related to something other than the OS. Is it that difficult a concept to understand that if the OS was crap, we'd all be having these issues? What are the variables in the equation? The third-party software and the hardware. Common sense. /RANT.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's try something productive. First, in all of your wild ranting...not once did you give us system specs, or anything to help us out. If you had an unstable system before, and tried to upgrade over junk...you're going to be left with junk. You wouldn't build a house on marbles, would you?

So, let's leave the choice up to you. You can choose one of two options: 1) You can just be an uninformed "user" who would rather rant and rave about Microsoft instead of looking into actual solutions to the actual problems, or 2) you can use common sense, calm down, and start giving us specs and explanations of the problems. You can also tell us if you did an upgrade install or a clean install.

Either choice is up to you, but if you want help...help us. If you just want to rant about Microsoft, you'll have to find an Apple forum somewhere.

I hope the OP does what you guys suggested (clean install). The problems he describes are not normal and I don't think we have ever seen something similar (except when upgrade installs were made).
