I am getting ready to purchase my ram, and I was wondering if it's okay to purchase a set of 6400 (800+mhz) instead of 5300 (600+mhz) ram?

Then there is a Startup listing there written into msconfig>Services that is interfering.

Confirm you Hid All MS Services before disabling the Services there not related to your AV, gadgets, sticky notes and Skydrive if you use them. Confirm also you did this first in the msconfig>Startup tab and rebooted a few times.

If so there still exists a program or utility which was causing these problems, only it is not starting with Windows now. If you'll post back a screenshot of the maximized msconfig>Services window showing the Services absent MS Services we might be able to help spot it for you.

Is this still factory pre-installed Win7 which has not yet had a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 or the steps here to Clean Up Factory Bloatware? HP has the worst load of sponsored bloatware and useless duplicate utilities in the industry.

Buy RAM with the exact specs listed by HP for upgrading that model. I also compare it to Crucial System Scanner software to find out what type of memory is in your computer
and the results given by googling the exact model + memory Upgrade where you may find much better deals once you've triple confirmed the exact specs.

The issue has been resolved. Thank you so much. Had it for months.

I got rid of any and everything HP on my computer. I did a clean install of Windows 7 when I first got it. Wiped out everything.

It's 5300 (633mhz), but I thought I could upgrade. I guess not.

Well, not everything is fixed! I have to get the ram first and see if my computer will still be laggy. LOL

On the Crucial website it says I can get both 5300 and 6400.
