Notepad copy behaviour

Hello!

In Windows XP, if I had a web link saved in a text form in Notepad and wanted to mark it and then copy into a web browser it was very easy: double-click, copy, paste and it's done.

In Windows 7 the Notepad acts differently when I double-click a link: if a link has "?" or "-" marks in itself then Notepad (or Windows 7 system if you will) marks only the text before (or after) those marks. So I can't copy the links fast as I was used to do before.

So, is there a way to configure Notepad (or whatever else has to be reconfigured) so that it would ignore "?" and "-" marks when I double-click on a link (or any text at all)?

Perhaps there might even be a way to have Notepad use XP OS rather than Windows 7. Isn't there some sort of compatibility function to do this?

Thank you.

Try this: Hit the F12 key and on the page that comes up, let your mouse pointer hover over "File". On the drop-down list click, "Customize Internet Explorer View Source." Then put a check-mark next to NotePad.

Hi there,
Thank you for the quick response. I do appreciate that :) I tried your procedure but it did not produce any change. If you have other suggestions I thank you in advance. Cheers.

It's a basic change in the way Windows 7 interprets line/word breaks. I have not seen any way to fix it. All you can do is swipe the entire URL and copy it that way.
