notepad vs notepad++

Is there any benefit to a casual user who does not edit text in using notepad++ over the regular notepad that comes bundled in windows 7?
I just occasionally,well maybe a lot,use notepad to write myself notes on how to get to certain files and folders,as in "Path to...".
But I have notepad++ installed and am wondering about getting rid of it because I don't use it,or should I be using it instead of notepad?

The primary use of notepadd++ for me is opening up various scripts and having color coded syntax checking support.

If you are just editing and playing with quick text files, there isn't a great reason to use something other than the built-in notepad.

I only use an editor of this sort in a casual fashion like you, but I still prefer Editpad, because of it's tabbed interface. If I ever do try something more advanced, this editor is able to do the job.

Heh yeah Notepad++ really comes into it's own for developer use. Syntax highlighing and the ability to edit files from different OSes and reatain or convert to the proper line endings etc.

So unless you do coding or a lot of text editing that requires handling of various text formats, unicode etc. then it's probably overkill

I use Notepad++ to code Lua script for the game CS2d. Works like a charm.
