Hello,

My problem is some of my apps that starts with the system have an icon in the notification area (which i set to SHOW ALL) and suddenly few of them do not appear anymore, even after restart or caches cleaning.

I found that using CCleaner and checking "clean notification area cache" make them appear again (after i reboot) BUT sooner after another few reboot they'll disappear again! I tried the bat file to reset notification area history (found on this board) and this one doesn't make them appear again at all..! What can i do?

Thanks.

Hello unko,

What programs does this happen with?

You might also check the programs' settings to see if it may have one of it's own to hide or show it's notification area (aka: system tray) icon.

If it's only a few programs, then you might see if uninstalling and reinstalling the affected programs may help.

Hope this helps for now, :)
Shawn

I checked that, no these apps do not have an option to choose showing or not the system tray. And I tried reinstalling one if them too, no luck with that. I've made some search, many add that issue but no-one solved it :(

Not sure about the other program, but are you using the latest 6.0.10.2620 stable version of Eraser?

Eraser :: Downloads

When the Eraser notification area icon is there, right click on it, and make sure that the Hide when minimized option is checked. If it's not, then the Eraser notification area icon will go away whenever you close Eraser.

This is not the problem. As said it can be any notifications. This is one if there many possible Windows bug.. Though resetting notification icons cache didn't help.

In that case, how long ago has this started?

If not to long, then you could try doing a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before this started to hopefully undo the cause.

There was no (good) restore point available. After very few reboots, the issue is back..

unko,

As a test, create a new administrator account and log in to it, then see how they behave in the new account to see if it's a system wide issue or just one in your original account.

I would have to reinstall all apps for the new user? Wouldn't be surprising if it was user account issue.

no, most apps should install in C:\Program files\ OR C:\Program Files x86\
all you would have to do is make new shortcuts to your desktop
