Hey Guys!

Some one of you allready expierienced that settings he made for some System tray icons are not saved?

I have the problem that my program is shown there but i can't set it to "Show Icon and Notification". Every time i close the program and open it again, the settings are the default "Only show notifications". :(

Is there a work around to force this? And NO i don't want to check the options "Always show all Icons and notifications on the taskbar"

Need your help

what program is it? admin account? have you went into the program/options to see if there are other options set or checked for the program, and its actions?

Miranda IM. No there are no other Options!!
In Windows XP and Vista its working. If enable the option "Always show all Icons and notifications on the taskbar" its displayed... but if the option is disabled it is not.... my settings are not saved

few questions... are you admin? when did this problem start? did it ever work before? if so, what was done(installed or settings changed) after it worked, but before it didnt work? What other taskbar type settings are you using? autohide? Does this happen when Miranda is idle or connected or both? all this info would be better at the start of the thread/post btw ;)

well after that is said/answered... things to do....

You can manually click the system icon notification arrow, then drag the icon down and place it where you want. ( You can also re-order those notification/systray icons in any order you like)
or
restore default icon behavior, then try setting up your notifications again
or
run sfc (manages to fix alot of problems that fix other problems)

Thats all i have for now

Yes i am Admin. There problem was always there. No my taskbar is always displayed. Every other program is working exept this one and i don know what to do any more.

Sfc?

I think the problem is my program!

Have you tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it with any antivirus program turned off?

Have you installed it in Vista Compatibility Mode?

Have you tried check marking Run as Administrator?

Have you right clicked on the setup before installing and gone to properties and see if it says Unblock and unblocked it?

It does not need to be installed. And its working in Vista and XP :(

did you try dragging that icon from hidden area TO the systray? Then try rebooting to see if it stays after a reboot. Is this a "startup" item? or do you start the IM yourself?

it is possible that they are not saved because of an unsaved profile upon closing your session. Just to be curious, check the application log in the windows logs of your event viewer to see if there is 1530 error about leaked registry keys...

Here is what I did to fix this problem (no, I don’t know why it works, but it did for me):
Step 1: Click on the up arrow on the taskbar to reveal the “customize” link in the pop-up window. I did NOT unlock the tasbar as some have suggested.
Step 2: Click on the “customize” tab and make your changes to “show icons and notifications” for those icons you want to have appear permanently in the taskbar.
Step 3: Log off your profile. Do not restart, just log off.
Step 4: Log on to a different user and make the same changes as in Steps 1 and 2. I did this to see whether I had a corrupted user profile and to see whether it would work for another user.
Step 5: Log back on to your user profile to see whether the taskbar was properly saved. The icons appeared this time!
Step 6: Restart your computer and log back on your user profile to confirm that the icons still appear. This time they did!! For some reason, if you make the changes to the taskbar and restart your computer, the user profile information was not saved. However, if you log off, they do. I don’t know why this worked, but it did for me. Good luck.
