NTFS partition displayed as RAW after clone with Easus

Hi

I now have another really bugging issue.

In short I used Easeus 2.5 version to make an image of my xp drive. It seemed to complete, but cannot find it. I can find the shirtcut, but no "image" file. At least not so far.
BUT somehow it has changed my (previously bootable) xp drive into "raw" data.
Do you know how that could happen, and what can be done to get it back to NTFS?

This is what Easeus says in their "Troubleshooting" section
"5. Why does the NTFS partition displayed as RAW after clone, and I cannot access it?
We think your original NTFS partition is written protected, please remove this attribute and then try again. "

Notice that they say "we THINK" ??? That's knowledge from the producers; AND what difference if it IS write protected? I am not trying to write TO it, only read FROM it!

While I have no idea why the source drive of an imaging operation would be changed at all, I experienced the RAW problem and have an idea for you if you don't see anything in the Easeus forum (surely there are people talking about this there if it does what you say).

TestDisk is the little tool that you want. I had to use it because of a strange experience with resizing a partition (now that's something that plausibly could cause a RAW issue):

I clicked on the link, which took me to an "about" page. I guess i am to fo to the home page to d/l the app? up

From looking up "raw data to ntfs", I found the techsupportalert site, which is very informative. Have been looking at it b4 about disk imaging s/ware.

Did you have any difficulty in knowing what to "look for", as Cranks did?

"Now, the first time I used TestDisk, I really had no idea what I was doing and had just wiped out the partition table of a half-terabyte drive full of much needed data. I too was really leery of a command-line only application, so I was way nervous as it chugged away, but it did find the right partitions, and some old ones, so it really helps if you have a good idea of what it is looking for so you can choose the correct layout."

So, what I am asking is, what am I looking to find/correct?

That's weird, as it should have brought you right to a forum thread, not an About page.

I basically followed what was mentioned in the Tom's Hardware link in that thread (I mentioned more of what I did in the post).

In addition free Partition Wizard bootable CD might be able to recover the entire partition intact: Partition Wizard Partition Recovery Wizard Video Help.

I would try this first before using data recovery software as it works nine out of ten times.
