Ntldr missing

I formatted the XP partition using Acronis disc director but when I rebooted to complete I got this error. Now I can not get into the computer and I did not burn a disc. It is RTM version 64bit and I love 7 and now appear to be unable to do anything. Using my netbook now so only option appears to be to use USB stick and reinstall.

Any recovery option would make me eternally grateful!! Hate when operator error screws me!!

Well were you dual booting? xp and win 7, and you deleted xp, right?

when you dual boot win 7 creates a hidden "boot" folder in the root of the older OS. it needs that to boot. If youu can find a win 7 disk, or if you can get into your system you can add the required files. thats about it, sorry

Who knew, I did use EasyBCD prior to wrecking this and the reboot was fine till I formatted. Guess I will have to try a USB stick once I locate the iso. Thanks!!

OK Now have the files on USB. Is there any way to fix the problem or will I have to reinstall?
I checked all the tutorials and nothing seems to address my issue?

hey there

well since you have a USB stick. You might be able to go to MS and download their enterprize trial. (90 days) Use that to boot and copy the files to win 7 root. might work. you have any flavor of linux?

I have the 7 iso installed to usb now, I pressed shift-F10 and now see 7 is on d drive, maybe why it won't boot. No Linux. Will diskpart work from install? Maybe if I change the active partition I will be OK?

Do have Ultimate boot cd

you want to boot from usb and use it to do a reapir install
