Okay so something new happened today. I had left the PC on all night to see if it BSODs(a 24hr youtube video was running). I woke up to a black screen, and the PC wasnt responding, I had to use the reset button. Upon coming back to the desktop I did not get the usual ''Windows Has Recovered From An Unexpected Error'' message so I went to look for the minidump files of a BSOD. I couldn't find any, therefore I assumed no BSOD occured and there was just a bug. However while looking for the minidump files I stumbled upon a folder called ''Live Kernel Reports'' and in it a file named 'WD-20140630-0556.dmp' which had been created just 3hours after I had gone to sleep. I did a bit of googling and since it may be relevant I decided to upload it attached with this, but I do not know if this has anything to do with previous BSODs or is just a random thing.

Just a reminder: The PC is currently a vanilla reinstall using a digital river download, with the replacement HDD, and no drivers except my GPU and Wireless dongle(no mobo drivers). Also all the IMPROTANT windows have been installed(no optional). I have not set the RAM settings as you suggested and will do that next, I was just waiting to see if with a digital river download of the OS and a non corrupt HDD maybe the BSODs go away. My ''classic'' BSOD hasnt happened(0x124 at idle) so I am still optimistic.

please post a screenshot of device manage with display adaptors expanded. Do you have anything like LucidLogix MVP activated? This is the first dump file I have been able to fet since this thread started that actually shows a driver. It is a Video card issue caked a TDR error. It basically means the video driver tried to recover but did bit do so within the allowe tune, so Windows assumed that the video card was dead. This is common in Laptops with switchable graphics. Unless your board has some utility that will switch between the on chip video and the dedicated card, I can only assume, Your drivers crashed and did not recover in the allotted time, or that you have some sort of video card trouble. This requires some explanations from you. What other than the dedicated card do have for video? I would like to see the device manager shot. What in BIOS do you have available for switching graphics? If you don't know, please look closely in bios. I am going to be wanting you to switch drivers from AMD. I want you to use a different version than what you used. I would like you to do some searching on the site and see if you can download just the driver without CCC. But, I would like you to answer those questions before doing anything. Look over this tutorial as that is what you will do for a clean install of drivers. This is good we got some kind of answer for the first time, but is bad as this is very difficult to resolve and many times means a malfunctioning card.

Apart from the dedicated graphics card there is just the on chip video, which has never been used. I have never used a different graphics card, or even the on chip video ever with this PC. Always this exact same GPU with the exact same driver software. I do not have any programmes such as LucidLogix MVP installed, and never did. I will go into the BIOS now and check for settings for switchable graphics.

OK, I'm trying to figure this out with you. Please go back to BIOS and the first entry on that screen you showed said primary video controller, highlight that and show me the options you have.

OK, I guess for now, just leave it on auto, if that is the default. See if you can download a previous version of your graphics card driver, without installing CCC if possible. If you can't find only the graphics driver, download the driver and select custom install after you have cleaned all the drivers out. if you have the option, install only the graphics driver and not CCC.

Another BSOD just happened, this time just like usual. First time it has happened since replacing the hard drive and installing a clean river digital download version of windows, so we can cross out the hard drive(original one was corrupt so I am RMAing that anyway) and cracked OS from causes of the BSOD.

I would hang on about the OS. I am trying to get more info. But, I have bought several dozen Windows 7 OS and never had one that the key was not a sticker inside the sealed DVD cover.

What do these results mean? Is this a pirated version of windows that an Amazon UK vendor is selling? If so can this be the reason that my PC is BSODing? Also what about the corrupt hard drive? Was that corruption caused by this OS or was that also corrupt to begin with

I've asked one of our experts to look and see. I can't tell. I also can't tell you much about the hard drive other than I seriously doubt any bad results were caused by the DVD you got. There could be some corruption of files on the drive from BSODs, but no damage to the drive itself. I believe that was the problem with the drive. Seatools looks at the drive, not the data.

It says its OEM System Builder and not SLP which is how most OS's are cracked. I'd say its legit but Noel may want to look in. Keys may be transmitted separately now by merchants who sell mainly downloads, and they may have simply thrown the wrong disk in as extra.

I notice that there are several controller options in post #66 screenshot. What's that about Steve? Are the BSOD's all pointing to the display card?

We have only had 1 code other than 0X124 and that was a video TDR error. Those are normally on Laptops with switchable graphics. I was just trying to see if he has something like that in his bios, which it does not appear he has.

It may have created a listing for each of those shown on the right side as card options when he installed their driver? Perhaps one of them is stable?

Was there ever a stable configuration? What driver was installed then?

If you enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) and Check for Updates, what driver does Win7 want? Are there patches provided?

Are you running the full CCC bloatware package and have you tried uninstalling it?

Yes, he is running just the display driver, nothing else. Other than the display driver, was installed from AMD, everything else is from WU. As I understand it the WU driver crashed too. I'm doing a lot of assuming here. We have only once been given a code other than 124. We even turned on Driver Verifier and got only 124 codes, no drivers at all. Yet he has passed every hardware test we have, including Furmark, Prime95, Memtest96, seatools failed on one drive, we changed drives and it passed both the short and long test, then we did a plain vavilla install with nothing added except MSE. Yet, he has another card that does not BSOD. But that card was never used in this install. When even DV won't give you a driver, something's wrong.

The Windows 7, even though it's a system builder license and home Premium, I have never known a retail key given out separate to the DVD. I have bought dozens of them and the key is a sticker inside the DVD cover.

A new method is to email the key with a download link, ship a disk only if they pay extra. It does seem strange they wouldn't have included the COA but it might have been vended by mail similarly. Noel can settle that.

Does the problem happen when running only a Linux Live disk like Peppermint3 - Create Live CD/DVD/USB To Use For Emergency Backup - Windows 7 Forums, first with the HD connected, then with it unplugged? This eliminates the OS and HD.
