I wanted to ask you guys that I was going to buy this card and though if it would go with 7 and my computer.

Here are my specs (dell optiplex gx270)

I have the fat one there and have a larger processor (3.0ghz)

and 1gb ram.

I'd appreciate the help.

im afraid i cant view the link.....:(

but if your currently running onboard GFX, & you have an empty AGP slot.....it should be fine.

i'd certainly look into getting more system RAM though, an extra gig will help no end...

Ok so you need adobe reader to view the link. Its a pdf.
Anyways i checked and the card requires a 300 w power supply and my systems only 250 w.

Can the power supply be upgraded. If not which graphic card do you guys recommend?
oh and i do have an empty agp slot. thnx

after looking at your specs, TBH your going to be throwing money at a system which is only getting older.....:(

your motherboard has no room for improved H/W or bandwidth throughput..

your processor is pretty slow & bound to cause a bottleneck with a newer GFX card..

i'd suggest a new build (build a tower yourself), i will recommend the parts on the budget you provide.... this will work better than anything you could add to that DELL.

if this is not an option & you still want to go with a new GFX card, the 7600GS will work just fine on the 250w PSU you have (manufacturer recommendations are always bloated), but a higher spec card will push the boundaries of a new PSU.

I don't think a 3.0ghz processor is slow.

And yeah i do need a gB of RAM.

on building the tower I can't right now cause I just bough an xbox 360 so currently im totally outta CASH$$. (bought some other stuf too)

SO R U sure the graphic card would work? I mean sure the recommendations r bloated but I wouldn't be too sure

Thnx for the offer (recomendations on new tower) tho

its a single core 3ghz chip, so yes its pretty slow.....

regarding power, my GTX260 is ''recommended'' to have a min of 500-600w PSU, but in reality it barely breaks 350w...(& my 260 uses more power than the vanilla version)

the Amperage is more important than the actual wattage though, & the 7600GS requires 20A on the 12v rail (i believe), as long as you dont have 10 HDDs & 30 USB products i reckon your PSU will be fine, (but without the actual specs of the unit i cant be 100%)

im trying to avoid telling you to buy a new PSU to run that card in that rig b/c IMO its just more money you could be spending elsewhere...

but if your prepared to buy a new PSU anyway, it wont hurt to buy the card & see if it functions properly before you spend more.
