NVidia cards that support HEVC, HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0

I asked in another thread but since this is a video card question I thought maybe I should create a new thread for this question. I'm building a new PC and I need to select a video card. I want to stick with NVidia, and I want to be sure I get one that can handle HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0 in order to decode 4k HEVC 10-bit, especially if I get the Skylake and don't wait for Kaby Lake since Skylake doesn't have built-in support for HEVC like Kaby Lake will. From what I see very few cards support HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0. Am I correct that the card has to be based on the the GM206 GPU to support this? From a post I read, the only cards that support this are:

- GTX 960
- GeForce GTX Titan X
- GeForce GTX 980 Ti

Are there any other NVidia cards that fit that specification other than these? The 960 is around the right price point for me and I see EVGA has a nice one. The other cards listed above are way, way out of my price range. Is the 960 my only option then? I want to stick with NVidia. How does the 960 perform? I'm looking at this card:

Are you saying that the 970 and 980 do not support HDMI 2.0 ?

Are you certain you`re even going to use HDMI ?

Yes, I have a 4k TV. 2015 Samsung - HDMI 2.2a HDMI/HDCP 2.2. I will be using HDMI on occasion with my TV.

And I'm trying to be sure I'm future-proofing to some degree. My main PC monitor is 1080p but I frequently download 4k HEVC clips and can't even play them currently on my PC to test them. My TV plays them fine through it's own media support so I have to put them on my thumb drive to play on the TV before I can even look at them. Since I'm building a new PC I want to be sure it will be able to decode 4K/main 10 profile/HEVC. At some point my monitor will need to be replaced and at that point I may get a 4k monitor. And for right now I could play 4k on my PC and have it down-converted to 1080 to match my monitor. The point is I want to be able to decode HEVC 10-bit video.


I've read in several places that only the NVIDIA Maxwell GM206 currently supports HEVC decoding and has HDCP 2.2/HDMI 2.0. That means only the GTX960, GTX 980 and Titan X from the older comments I've been reading on forums. But I wanted to be sure that NVidia hasn't recently released newer cards that also offer that support.

Actually I read only the 980ti and Titan x or z series is really 4k proof
Normal other 970 and 980 series would need 2 identical to sli to be able to do 4k at 60Hz
Otherwise they fall to 30fps

980ti is iffy seeing it has 6gbs but it's a lot closer to it than a single 970-980.
960 series uses 128bit so i doubt it will do much good.

256bit didn't start till the 970 series.
