Ok, I'll do that, thanks. By the way, it's true that I have Vista on my PC, but I set up a dual-boot with Vista and 7 build 7100 about half hour ago and haven't updated my profile yet... So far so good, even though I only configured some basic stuff, now to install the drivers and then programs...

I'm actually probably gonna do that, I sure hope so anyway. I'm just installing all the stuff I use and see if it works fine on 7. If it does... Goodbye Vista! :D
And I have a feeling that all, or nearly all of my stuff will work on 7! I sure hope so! It seems like a great OS!

I'm using the 185 drivers because the official 181 would not play pro street or undercover. When I installed them they were actually recognized as windows 7 drivers and all my games play sweet. of course if you have no such problems then as swarfega says stick with 181.

Im not so sure that they are actually recognised as windows 7 drivers or whether the driver is just picking up the name of the OS string.

personally, i use the vista drivers....

the W7 NV driver is pretty old & does not have the GPU ''power saving'' feature ..... so while using the W7 drivers my GTX260 will sit 10c higher while idle than on the latest vista driver....;)

Hi noon

First, It's always best to start a new thread for your own questions, even if it may be similar to one already going. That way it stops the confusion of 2 or more fixes trying to work in 1 thread...everybody loses track of who's talking to whom.
Also more eyes get to read your question as many forum users will actually pass by posts that have a few answers going, thinking it's being handled already and your question gets lost.

Ok, on to what you need here. Simply disable the auto install of WU drivers temporarily, go to Windows update in control panel, click on "change settings" in the left pane, and set the update options to "Never install". Now you can install an older driver without that getting in the way. It may ask to install a newer version once you re-enable that update install option to your preferred setting, but it should be an Optional now and you can refuse it.

Hope that's what you're looking for, and Welcome to the forum.

Nvidia 8400GS and HDTV

I am currently running XP Pro and Windows 7 RC1, in Dual Boot, on separate SATA HD's. Under XP Pro, I output the PC to a 50" Sony HDTV, DVI to HDMI, at 1900x1080, using the 182.5 drivers. I have never had good luck using Dual View so the HDTV is my Single display. I had to ReSize the display to shrink the Desktop to fit properly.

With Windows 7, I installed the Nvidia 185 drivers. When I set the Digital Signal to 1080i or 1080p, I cannot shrink the Desktop to fit the HDTV screen. I have to use 720P. The controls in the Resize the Display box are at their limits when I try to use 1080p.

Also, in XP, I could go into Display Properties/Appearance and change the Icon Text Font to Arial 12, which was easier to read at 1080p. I cannot find any controls like that in Windows 7

I have a 50" Sony HDTV. My Nvidia 8400GS card is connected to the HDTV as a Single Display, DVI to HDMI, at 1080p (1900x1080). I dual boot Windows 7 with XP Pro.

With XP Pro, I use the Nvidia Control Panel, in the 182.5 drivers, to shrink the Windows Desktop to fit inside the edge of my HDTV screen.

With Windows 7, using the 185 drivers, the Windows Desktop is larger than the HDTV Screen and the Nvidia Control Panel controls, to Resize the Display, will not allow me to shrink the Windows Desktop.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
