Nvidia GeForce GT 610 HDMI Audio Issue

cosmicblue, Thanks for the feedback. I tried the same idea for my card and installed the oldest release (301.42), and that didn't solve my issue. For some reason Windows is not seeing the audio codec on the card. In Ubuntu it works fine, but unfortunately Windows wants to be a tool.

Thanks, not surprised though. I did say in my post that drivers later than 275.33 don't work (I tried that later ones too), go back further. If you can't find obtain 275.33 let me know and perhaps we can do something via Dropbox?

I downloaded and attempted to install 275.33, however it does not support my card. When the system scan portion completes it alerts me that no compatible Nvidia card is installed. When looking at Nvidia supported products for the 275.33 the GeForce GT 610 is not listed so I am not very surprised.

I have found that by eliminating the High Definition Audio Controller that is in System Devices and relaunch Search Hardware Changes, sound reappears on TV at the moment is the solution I'm using but I have to do it every time restart the PC I'm looking for something more permanent and not have to intervene all the time, I had thought to create a .bat file to run at startup and do this for my ... but that left me not know what else I can do.

Total Fluke fix

Hi I had the exact same issue same gfx card and so on and I fixed it by pure fluke while playing world of warcraft! basically once you have up to date drivers and your tv is detected play around with the screen resolution settings I put mine on the max recommended setting and then entered the game and the sound just started working everyone has been messing around in bios and audio settings as any normal person would think but your gfx card needs the screen resolution correct also for everything to work together, hope it woks for anyone else that does it like I say total fluke but im happy as hell now!!!

The NVIDIA GPU Install drivers should have an option to install HDMI sound drivers for your GPU.

This HDMI sound will only be output from your GPU to your TV \ Monitor speakers through either a HDMI or Display Port cable.

Alternately you could use your motherboards onboard sound to get sound into your TV \ Monitor.

Pretty much have the same set up and same issue here. JFlat, did you or anyone else ever get this issue resolved? I have tried what was mentioned in this thread as well as several other threads with no luck.

I never found a solution here. I had contacted Nvidia tech support and we tried several configurations and drivers. He metioned there had been similar HDMI audio issues reported with low end video cards not being fully compatible with some older motherboards. I was trying to add HDMI to an old HP Pavilion manufactured in 2006 and the HDMI audio wouldnt work. I got hold of a similar but slightly newer HP Pavilion and the card worked just fine.

A bit old, but I found a solution and maybe anyone else searching for this will benefit from this:

I had to right-click on the desktop, click NVIDIA Control Panel, expand Display, click "Set up audio digital", change the HDMI drop-down to "Turn off audio".

I restarted a few times, still working. When I set it back to "<insert screen device name here>", sound stops working. Odd but it worked.
